Covid – 19
Bradford taxis should use their safety equipment – screens and sanitiser.
This is to help protect people from Covid-19 and help people to feel safe.

To catch a taxi, you can:

There are taxi ranks on many of the main streets, including outside the two train stations.
They usually have a sign showing you where to wait.

Only Hackney Carriages are allowed to pick up passengers at a taxi rank, or on the street.
Bradford Hackney Carriages are always white with a green stripe + green taxi sign on top.

To book a private hire taxi, you can use Uber or a local company. You can find these on Google. You can book over the phone, and some companies have apps you can use.

Private hire taxis look like normal cars. They should also have a sign telling you the name of the company and that it is licensed by Bradford Council.

You can ask for a large taxi (for up to 6 people, or for a wheelchair user).

Hints for Staying Safe

Most taxi drivers are, of course, legal and safe. Make sure you stay safe.

  • Only get in to a taxi if it is a Hackney carriage or a taxi booked in advance.
  • Always check the driver has a badge. This shows they are licensed.
  • Do not wait for a taxi on your own. If possible, share a taxi with friends
  • Sit in the back seat, if you are alone.
